FOURTEEN DAYS!!!`

What the what!!!!!

I have 14 days before I report back to work.  Then a short 11 days after that that I go to LONDON to visit all of my family!!!!!  The day after I get back, I am with my students!!!!!!

Here is the list of my NEED TO DO:
Finish my Class Birthday sign

Label all my shoe boxes
Print out my LSM GCF printable games
Get my Choice-board organized
BINDERS!

I think that is it!  It is actually not that much!  Here is to creating!

    London?! How exciting! Is it stressful for you to take such a big trip right before school starts? I would a hot mess!

HI! I am actually Blogging!  That is crazy. We are getting prepared for a huge sale on TPT and So I thought I would let you know a little more in detail about one of my newest products. My students LOVED this activity.  I went to the store and bought "Fun Sized" bags of a very popular brand name candy coated chocolate candy. (If you look at the pictures you can probably figure out what it is :))  I also bought a bag of the "Mini" version of this particular candy!  Then I snagged a box of Dixie cups.  The idea of this activity is that students are to find the fraction/decimal/percent of each color in the bag of "Fun Sized" and the fraction/decimal/percent of the "Mini" versions. THEN.  Here is the kicker...they are to compare them to one another!  OH ingenious.  Many of my students were really confused on comparing .25 to 1/4.  Having the visuals of the candies helped them to grasp this concept!!!  Score! ...

There Is No Achievement Gap At Birth One of the things I find myself constantly arguing is the fact that I am a white teacher in a not so white school.  I think I have heard (from the mouths of white people) “do you ever fear for your life?” more times than I would like to admit.  No I do not fear for my life.  I know where this is stemming from, the idea that black teenagers are somehow “more dangerous” than white teenagers.  Most of the time these types of comments are from folks who I believe to not be RACIST but, let's face it, they are pretty prejudice.  And there is a HUGE difference. (By the way…statistically speaking, look at school shootings and the demographics of the shooters.  Seems to me most of them are white, and in white neighborhoods.  I’m just saying.)
