Lessons With Coffee

HI!  I had a huge outcry for the step by step for my DIY Christmas Mugs so here it is! Gather your materials.  I have two porcelain mugs I got for $2.99 at Target, I have OIL BASED PAINT MARKERS, washi tape, a pencil and my printed out designs.  The markers MUST be OIL BASED.  You can not use regular Sharpie markers and expect them to stay on.   You can see I used a few different brands.  The Sharpie is the smoothest but these worked. Take your printed out design and flip it upside down.  Use your pencil to completely cover the back side with the graphite from the pencil.  Flip it right side again and use the washi tape to tape it onto your cup.  I like the washi tape because it leaves ABSOLUTELY no residue. I actually made this quite a while ago...>But never got around to blogging about it. I wanted to make hall passes because I HATE WRITING OUT PASSES.  We have a no pass policy at our school "unless it is an emergency."  I am a believer that if it is your time (ie, I am not teaching and you are not taking a test...) and you need to go to the bathroom, who am I to stop you? So I decided to make some uber cute passes. I got my supplies...You might recognize some of them from my birthday sign.  A plank, three (actually 4 but I knew I only wanted three) small planks for the passes, paint, brushes, wood cut outs, three pegs. I painted the main plank blue when I was painting my birthday sign.   I used the Martha Stewart Spray Paint Kit to make it blue in a jiffy. THen I painted my hooks. Best thing about summer I get to be crafty!  So I am linking up for the very first time with 4thGradeFrolics and Monday Made it! Ok. If you saw this post you knew that I wanted to make this birthday board but for my class: So I went to Michael's and got all my supplies.  (I ended up not useing the foam letters as I wanted white letters...and the frog was something I painted in Mexico. lol) SO the first thing I needed to do was prime all my wood.  I like to do this because it is MUCH easier to make any color paint go smoothly onto white paint than on to wood grain.    I did not have any primer so I just used white spray paint.  I started with the large piece of wood.  And did short sweeping motions to get a nice even coat.  I did not worry about the back as it was going to be up against the wall.  I also primed all 200 of my tokens.  I decided that I was going to paint the ...
