SLANT BOX UPDATE

Due to quite a few re-matches I am extending the send out date to the 25th of August.  If you would like to send still on the 20th that is fine but I want to give the latests batch of re-matches time to get to know their partners!  I have sort of lost track of who is now participating so PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD!  

To summarize:
YOU NOW HAVE UNTILL AUGUST 25 TO SEND YOUR BOXES!

Hope everyone is having a ton of fun, I know I have been a bit of a slacker to my two matches but I promised that I would be back this week!  So here is a shout out to them!

To answer a few other questions:
I will have a linky post up on the 25th now.  You should be receiving your boxes around then (give or take a few days).  Please link to the party if you have a blog.  Do not forget to #Slantboxes on social media!

I will open the form up for September participants around the 15th, there will be some changes on the form so bare with me on that.  I am trying something else out to make it a bit smoother of a run!

    So glad the date was extended. I had everything bought and prepared and just needed to box it up and then our power went out. So now I won't be late.

HI! I am actually Blogging!  That is crazy. We are getting prepared for a huge sale on TPT and So I thought I would let you know a little more in detail about one of my newest products. My students LOVED this activity.  I went to the store and bought "Fun Sized" bags of a very popular brand name candy coated chocolate candy. (If you look at the pictures you can probably figure out what it is :))  I also bought a bag of the "Mini" version of this particular candy!  Then I snagged a box of Dixie cups.  The idea of this activity is that students are to find the fraction/decimal/percent of each color in the bag of "Fun Sized" and the fraction/decimal/percent of the "Mini" versions. THEN.  Here is the kicker...they are to compare them to one another!  OH ingenious.  Many of my students were really confused on comparing .25 to 1/4.  Having the visuals of the candies helped them to grasp this concept!!!  Score! ...

There Is No Achievement Gap At Birth One of the things I find myself constantly arguing is the fact that I am a white teacher in a not so white school.  I think I have heard (from the mouths of white people) “do you ever fear for your life?” more times than I would like to admit.  No I do not fear for my life.  I know where this is stemming from, the idea that black teenagers are somehow “more dangerous” than white teenagers.  Most of the time these types of comments are from folks who I believe to not be RACIST but, let's face it, they are pretty prejudice.  And there is a HUGE difference.
